August 15th Quilt Guild Meeting

We had a book swap this month. Everyone brought their quilt books and magazines and traded them. And we also had a great show and tell of quilts and quilt tops. Due to the heat this last month Becky had been inside and for her that meant it was quilt making time. She was very busy!

Around the World

Nine patch
Baby quilt
Another nine patch
Just look at all those curved seams.

All this in one month!
Carol said that this one was partly made with garage sale finds. I am not sure how much of it was came from the sale and how much us her work, but it looks great. I tried to get a better shot of the
embroidered center motif. My camera did not do this quilt justice. All the blocks have been appliqued except the center on and she said that she had lost the handle and had to improvise. Nice Save.
Jan McGee paper pieced and hand quilted this beautiful quilt.  The quilt pattern from was a workshop that Carol Ann Wilbourn taught the guild a few months ago. The border is quilt by the mile. Jan will be teaching the block again later on this year, as long as there is not snow and ice on the ground.

Connie brought her lovely Drunkards Path quilt. The blocks for this quilt were cut out during guild meeting on an Accuquilt-go that Viola brought. I was told that the quild bought the drunkards path dies so anytime a guild member wants to cut out a Drunkards Path quilt Viola will be more than happy to bring it to guild.  Thanks Viola!

Connie also brought this beautiful Quilt of Valor top that she had done.

  2. Hello, I have enjoyed looking at all the beautiful work done by this group of talented ladies!! I am the State Coordinator for Quilts of Valor and would love to connect with your group. We have a Quilt Contest that has just started, sponsored by the American Legion Post 20. I would love to share the information and links if possible. Sorry I could not find any contact info or would have contacted someone privately. You may contact me at sheila.gordon@QOVF.org for more information. Also, we have about 20 quilts to award in your area and wonder if anyone would be interested in helping in the award ceremony? They are very fun and rewarding! We are working to get the quilts completed now.
