September 17, 2012

Show and tell began with Ann Bowers Disappearing nine patch or I believe she called it twisted nine patch quilt which will be the next meetings activity/ tutorial.

Ann Bower again with another quilt.
Wanda Prince brought her lovely design that she made all by hand with a combination of applique and embroidery.

Cindy Albright is showing us one of her "Quilt of Valor" quilts that she had done.
This one was a quilt as you go design,

I think this quilt was from a trash to treasure design and was also done by Cindy Albright. Both of these quilts and a few others were on display at the Craighead County public library during October. It was a great show done by the Loose Threads Guild of which Cindy is also a member.

This beautiful quilt was done by Joanne Schanda.
I don't know how they get so much done and do it so well!  Ann Ferris brought this darling quilt that she calls Mr Frog and Friends. So cute!
Jan McGee did they batik stars lap quilt.

Then tonight we did pillow cases for the children's hospital
We all brought specialty prints and we whipped out several pillow cases. Lillian was kind enough to bring her serger so I think we mainly cut and got them ready to sew and then took them to Lillian or whoever was on the machine to run them together.

I heard from Jan the next day and here is what her email said.
Hello LADIES!
You are a fantastic group of ladies.  We made 34 pillowcases last
night.  Cindy gave me fabric for about 9 more.  I still have about 10
to make here at home.  SO>>>> that means I'll send more than 50 pillow
cases to Conquer Cancer.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!  I am overwhelmed with
your generosity.
When you have a few minutes of spare time keep making
pillowcases.  I'll continue to wash, pack and mail the pillowcases.
To me. it is a great stress reliever.  I can make a pillow case in
about 10 minutes and feel I've put a smile on a child's face and that
makes me smile, also.
Thanks again.  I'll get them in the mail early next week.  This
week is going to be busy.
You gals are the GREATEST!!!!!
Jan
